Historic tours

Saint Nicolas Place is the biggest collection of Tudor buildings you will find in Birmingham. What better way to enjoy a day out, exploring historical Kings Norton and being served tea the traditional way in what is considered to be the jewel of Kings Norton, the only Grade 2 Star listed building in Birmingham.

Our knowledgeable guides will take you on a tour of our remarkable 15th Century buildings, which include the Tudor Merchant’s House and the Old Grammar School. You can even take a peek at the beautiful 12th Century Saint Nicolas Church. You will learn about a variety of characters relevant to Saint Nicolas Place, including the man who owned the Merchant’s House, the Queen who stopped by during the Civil War and the controversial schoolmaster who made radical changes to the quality of education in Kings Norton. You will also learn facts about the construction of the Old Grammar School and why it such an enigma, why we are so lucky that it still exists today and how the building were restored.

Tours are available for groups of up to 20 people. Guests are given an historic overview of the events that happened here. Talks can be tailor-made so why not add them on to your event or celebration, for that something a little bit different? Our group tours are informative and entertaining diversion for your guests. Our group tour package includes a light afternoon tea buffet. Tours are available at a time to suit you when booked in advance.

Or new to Saint Nicolas Place will be our shortened tours available in specific parts of the building subject to room availability on the day. Tuesday – Thursday from 10 am last admission for the shortened tour is 3pm.
