Tread Ancient Boards In Your Own Time

A new year means a new opportunity for visitors to Saint Nicolas Place in Kings Norton. From Saturday 3rd January visitors will have the option to guide themselves around the restored late Medieval and Tudor site, as well as opt for a guided tour of the buildings. Since re-opening to the public in June 2008, most visitors have been able to see the wonderful timber framed rooms of the Tudor Merchant’s House and Old Grammar School only by guided tour.

Miracles from medieval age

Real life miracle has happened.
In a city which specialises in demolishing anything of long term interest – viz this year's senseless demolition of Hall Green's oldest residential building, Highfield House – not one, but two great buildings have been saved in Kings Norton.

The Saracen's Head was a 15th century wool merchant's residence turned pub and an old house used as shop, lodgings, stables and stores. It was given to the parish church in 1930 by Mitchells and Butlers. And the restored Old Grammar School is one of the oldest school buildings in the country.
